SV Updates: Bin Pickup Date Change

The last trash pick-up for Waste Management will be Friday, March 26th.  The Waste Management bins will be picked up on Monday, April 5th and Tuesday, April 6th.  Please have your EMPTY Waste Management bins at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on April 5th and leave them out until they are picked up by Waste Management.  You may store the empty bins by your house or in your garage between the last trash pick-up and the bin retrieval date.  Thank you for your cooperation.  We are excited for the switch in sanitation providers.

SV Updates: New Waste Provider – 3/3/21

Late last year, Waste Management of Kansas, Inc. notified Shannon Valley Homes Association that our trash collection contract would be terminated and not renew in January 2021. Accordingly, the board of Shannon Valley reached out to several trash haulers throughout the metro area to obtain quotes for services. As a result of the search, the board of Shannon Valley was able to contract with Constable Sanitation to start trash collection service on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

Waste Management’s last trash pick-up will be on Friday, March 26, 2021.  The Waste Management bins won’t be picked up until Monday, April 5th and Tuesday, April 6th.  Please have your EMPTY Waste Management bins at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on April 5th and leave them out until they are picked up by Waste Management.  It may take several days for Waste Management to complete collection of its bins.

Constable Sanitation will be delivering new trash and recycle bins from March 24th-26th. With the new bins over a wekk prior to Waste Management being able to retrieve its bins, we understand there may be a need to store bins on the side of the home temporarily. Additionally, with 10 days between the final Waste Management pickup and first Constable Sanitation collection, residents may have larger pickups on Tuesday, April 6th. Under the new agreement with Constable Sanitation, it will collect up to 15, 30-gallon size trash bags each week (whether they fit in the bins or not), so hopefully this should be sufficient room for your trash.

• Flexibility on bin size for trash bins

Please note: Pickup date is changing from Friday to Tuesday. Also, residents will receive a 95 gallon trash bin and 65 gallon recycle bin. (We currently have 65 gallon sizes of both bins.) If you would like a smaller trash bin that is the 65 gallon size, please request it immediately at Constable’s link below. Shannon Valley Homeowners are all proud of our tree-shaded streets, our parks and tennis court, and access to all of the amenities that Overland Park has to offer! We welcome you to our community!

The Shannon Valley Homeowners Assoc. Board will once again be calling on neighbors to help with the fun-filled activities that are planned throughout the year. Our plans include our annual Easter Egg Hunt in the SV Park in March, the SV Art Fair in May, The Neighborhood Garage Sale in June, the 4th of July Parade in the Park in July, the Oktoberfest with Indian Creek in October, and our Annual Meeting which is held in November.
You can go to the Volunteer section of our website to let the Board know which events you’d like to help with. And mark your calendars to attend and get to know your neighbors in a fun and relaxed atmosphere!

Our SV Homeowners Association can also use volunteers to become Block Captains, organize Block Parties, and serve on our Long Term Planning Committee to help plan future projects to maintain and enhance our neighborhood.

Please register your email address and update your directory information to help us with distributing newsletters, providing notices about neighborhood events, and offering information about important matters to homeowners. If you don’t utilize email, please let the Board know and we can make sure that you receive neighborhood information through the mail.
