Weekly Household Trash Pickup: Curbside pickup provided on Tuesday each week with the exception of holidays that occur on Monday or Tuesday. During those holidays, the alternate pickup day will be Wednesday.
Yard Waste Removal: Constable Sanitation offers yard waste removal. Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and brush. Weekly pickup is scheduled and is included with regular trash service every week. Place yard waste in the brown yard waste compost bags or bundled together in 3 foot x 3 foot bundles. The weight limit is 40 pounds per bundle/bag.
Recycling: We are proud to participate in the commingled recycling program. All recyclable items are taken to a commingled recycling center where they are sorted by hand.
- Constable Sanitation has provided a recycling polycart with a Blue lid.
- Please refer to the list of accepted items listed here.
- Recycling is not accepted in plastic bags.
- The recycling will be picked up on the same day, Tuesday, as the trash service.
Large Item Pickup: The large pick-up is a special arrangement for Shannon Valley Residents. Constable Sanitation allows one large item the first Tuesday of each month. Many large items can be picked up. Place your large item at the curb near your trash. Please note: it will be collected by a different truck than the normal trash truck, so do not be surprised if your trash is taken but the large item remains until later in the day.
Polycart Waste Containers: Constable Sanitation wants to make getting your waste to the curb as easy as possible. That is why they provided 95-gallon wheeled polycart waste containers. The container is on wheels so that you can easily roll it to the curb. They also have a hinged lid so that on a windy day, there is no chance of the lid getting blown down the street. The lid also helps to keep animals out of the trash. If the sizing does not work 65-gallon containers are also requestable from their website.
Needles & Sharps: For those customers that need to have needles or other sharp objects disposed of, we ask that you keep the following guidelines in mind: Please package all sharps and needles in a heavy plastic container such as a laundry detergent or bleach bottle and seal off with duct tape. We would also ask that it be clearly marked as “Needles”.
Paint and other Hazardous Waste: Constable Sanitation is unable to take any kind of liquefied paint or hazardous waste. However, paint cans that are either empty or where the paint is solidified can be picked up. Feel free to contact the following numbers for additional disposal information:
- Johnson County Hazardous Waste: 913-715-6900
Interruption in Service: Please note that the trash service being provided by Constable Sanitation for the Shannon Valley Neighborhood is funded through your Homeowners’ Association dues. Failure to pay your dues in a timely manner may result in the suspension of trash service. If annual dues are paid, then please contact Constable Sanitation about missed services, 816-204-1192 or through their contact form.
Notes on new service vs the previous provider: Under the new agreement with Constable Sanitation, it will collect up to 15, 30-gallon size trash bags each week (whether they fit in the bins or not), so hopefully this should be sufficient room for your trash.
Highlights around this change:
• Equivalent pricing to prior provider
• Larger trash pickups allowed weekly
• Same bulk item pickup allowance
• Improved customer service
• Unlimited Yard Waste bag pickup
• Flexibility on bin size for trash bins
