AHH’s Concord House Update

As we discussed in our recent Zoom meeting, the City of Overland Park was expected to announce the process it would follow to make a final decision regarding the Concord House proposed by AHH. In conducting its analysis regarding the process, the City of Overland Park determined that it was preempted in applying its zoning restriction of the maximum unrelated individuals in a single family home due to the reasonable accommodation it was required to give to AHH’s Concord House under the Fair Housing Act. Thus, the City decided that there is no further process necessary to reach its conclusion. Please see the letter below that we received from the City discussing its findings and providing further information regarding its…

Message from Steadfast OP’s Wes Griffith, OPPD COPPS Unit

Hello everyone!   I wanted to pass along a notice to you that can be forwarded to your neighborhood and friends. Apple Air Tags have been gaining popularity over the past year or so. These devices were designed and marketed so that people could attach them to items like car keys or luggage and not lose them. Unfortunately, some people have been using them to follow people or vehicles. This link leads to an information page from Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212227). I would encourage everyone to check it out. If anyone gets a notification that a tag is nearby and feels like someone may be following them or targeting them or their car, feel free to drive to a police station and speak with an…

Trash/Recycling Bins

Hello Neighbors, One of the main issues we have heard about from residents in recent weeks is the placement of trash/recycling bins on the outside of a residence.  As you drive through the neighborhood, or perhaps just look out your windows, you will see there are a number of residents that leave trash/recycling bins in plain view of the street and/or neighboring properties.  It can be challenging to find space in a garage or other suitable location for these bins. However, leaving trash/recycling bins in plain view of the street or neighboring property is a violation of city ordinances. Aside from trash collection days, your trash/recycling bins must be stored behind the line of your home, and cannot be in…

College Blvd Fence Ballot Results and Upcoming Meetings

Hello Neighbors, The ballots for the College Blvd fence have been collected and counted.  We received approximately 300 ballots (53% response rate), just over 100 of which had comments/suggestions regarding the neighborhood and how we can continue to help improve it.  Thank you all for your participation and votes in this process, and thank you to the previous board for all of their efforts in moving this discussion to a point where a proper vote could take place! The decision of the neighborhood, determined solely by the outcome of the vote, is to not fund the replacement/repair of the fence along College Blvd.  We received 192 “no” votes, and 111 “yes” votes (this sentence added 3/30/18).  As a result, all responsibility…
